#15 Mavs Drop Second Straight League Game

Fall at Adams State 87-84

Mesa men (20-3, 14-2) dropped its second consecutive league game Friday night 87-84 at Adams State. The win improved the Grizzlies to 5-19, 2-14 in conference play.

 

ASC led 37-30 at half and led the entire game until 5:27 left in regulation. Mike Dominguez's trey gave MSC its first lead (71-70) in the game. The Mavs largest lead of the game came minutes later on a Dominguez jumper at 3:49 for a 75-71 advantage. The Grizzlies went on an 8-0 spurt (79-75) and again the Mavs came back to tie the game at 79 on a trey by Brian Kenshalo at the 1:16 mark.

 

Adams' Nick Fox sank two free throws for an 81-79 lead they would not relinquish on the way to their second league win of the year.

 

Dominguez led all players and tied his career high with 37 points. He pulled down six rebounds and finished with five assists, three steals and two blocked shots.

 

Lance Fite recorded 15 points, six rebounds, two assists and two blocked shots.

 

Kenshalo, staring in place of the injured Jase Herl, had 12 points in 28 minutes.

 

ASC was led by Fox's 21 points. Four Grizzly players recorded double digits in the upset win.

 

MSC will play at Fort Lewis College Saturday night in Durango.
