Box Score Mesa State (4-1, 0-1) men's basketball team dropped its league opener and its first game of the season at Chadron State Friday night, 78-61.
The Eagles went on a 10-1 run in the final 4:46 of the first half to take a 37-28 halftime lead. Chadron never trailed in the second half, outscoring the Mavs 41-33.
Chadron hit 14 treys in the game (14-26), seven in each half. MSC hit 4-of-14 from the three point line.
MSC's Russell Gregory and Kalonji Paschal each tallied 13 points each to lead the Mavericks. Chandler Burgon scored 10 points off the bench and pulled down a team high seven rebounds. Colton Burgon grabbed seven rebounds and finished with eight points.
Chadron State had four players in double figures, led by Kevin McClelland's game high 18 points.
Mesa State will play at University of Neb.-Kearney Saturday night.
