Mesa State capped off the Clarion Inn Thanksgiving Classic Saturday night with a 65-57 win over Dixie State College. The win moved the Mavericks to 4-0 and wraps-up MSC's non-conference schedule.

MSC had four players in double digit figures including a double-double by Michael Bear. The junior post player finished with 10 points (8-of-12 free throws) and 10 rebounds.

Kalonji Paschal led the team with 13 points, connecting on 8-of-10 free throws.

Nate Nelson finished with 11 points and Lance Fite registered 10 points. Paschal, Nelson and Fite combined for 12 rebounds.

Mesa State held a 35-32 lead at half despite a slow start by both teams. MSC shot 32.1 percent (9-28) and Dixie State shot 33.3 percent (9-27) in the first half.

MSC held a single digit lead through the first ten minutes of the second half with their largest lead of 10 points coming with 6:40 (60-50) remaining in regulation. The Mavericks hit just 3-of-10 free throws in the final five minutes while the Red Storm struggled from the field. Dixie scored just three points in that same time span.

Mesa State shot 30.9 percent in the game and 65.8 percent (25-38) from the foul line. Dixie shot 27.1 percent (13-48) from the floor and 72.2 percent (26-36) from the free throw line.

Dixie's Tom Whitehead led all scorers with 20 points.

MSC will open RMAC action this weekend at Chadron State and University of Neb.-Kearney.
