The Mesa State Cross Country team competed last weekend at the Rocky Mountain Shootout hosted by the University of Colorado. The event had numerous NCAA Division I schools along with Division II schools.

                Mesa State placed 3rd out of 15 non-division I schools. Only National and RMAC powerhouses Adams State and Western State placed higher than the Mavericks. The University of Colorado placed first overall with 1st through 4th individual finishes in the 5.8K race.

                Maverick All-American Alexis Skarda (Boulder, Colo.) finshed 6th overall (21:15) and 2nd among non-division I runners. Adams State's Kristen McGlynn finished first among non-division I runners in 20:56.

                Mesa State's Kelsey Follett (Ft. Collins, Colo.) was the next highest Maverick finisher. Follett placed 29th in 22:35.

                The Cross Country Team will next compete in the Metro State Invitational on October 16th.
