COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— After claiming the individual win while leading the Colorado Mesa University Mavericks to their first team meet win in 11 years, senior
Jordan Staniszewski was named as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference's Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week, it was announced on Wednesday afternoon.
The senior out of Highlands Ranch, Colorado posted a career-best 6-kilometer time of 21 minutes, 9.5 seconds to finish 36.4 seconds ahead of teammate
Autumn McQuitty as the Mavericks had six of the top seven finishers to record a 17-45 win over Western Colorado University in the small Saturday afternoon meet at Chipeta Golf Course in Grand Junction.
The Mavs' victory was their first since 2015.
Staniszewski has now recorded top eight finishes in all three of her races this season and is the first CMU runner to claim an individual meet win since
Kira MacGill won the 2022 season-opener against the Mountaineers.
The Mavs have now had a RMAC Runner of the Week in consecutive seasons after
Megan Hodges claimed the Sept. 24 honor last season.
The Mavs will next race at the RMAC Championships on Nov. 7 in Rapid City, South Dakota.
