Women's Soccer Splits in Phoenix

The Maverick Women's Soccer team came back from their road trip in Phoenix, AZ with a split. Mesa beat Cal State-San Bernadino 1-0 on Friday before losing to Grand Canyon yesterday 1-0. Mesa State's record improves to 3-1-0.

Against the Coyotes of Cal State-San Bernadino, Sophomore Megan Swan's (Aurora, CO) goal 44 seconds into the game proved to be the game winner. Junior Daniela Ramirez (Rupert, ID) booted a crossing pass which Swan kicked in.

Sophomore Julia Rasmussen (Rio Rancho, NM) kept a clean sheet in goal for her first win of the season.

Things proved to be a little different against the 'Lopes of Grand Canyon University. GCU's Kayla Poe scored a goal in the 75th minute that ended up being game winner. Poe scored on a blocked shot rebound off goalie Alicia Kahler (Spokane, WA).

The loss was the first defeat of the season for Mesa State.
