In a 3-0 sweep (25-23, 25-19, 25-15) over Cal State Dominguez Hills the Mavericks (2-7)broke a six match losing streak. Four of the six losses were to top 25 nationally ranked teams.

Alisan Tompkins and Gabrielle Lovato each finished with double digit kills as the Mavericks closed out their non-conference schedule and prepare for opening weekend of RMAC action September 11 on the road.

Tompkins posted a double-double with 14 kills and 10 digs. Tompkins 14 kills in 3 games is a season high for the senior from Grand Junction (Fruita Monument HS). Lovato added 12 kills and 5 digs.  Lovato's 12 kills tied her season high (MSU-Moorhead).

Junior setter Tara King had 36 assists, 9 digs and 4 kills, assisting the Mavericks to 46 kills in the 3-set match. Her 36 assists is a season high for 3-set matches. King's high assists is 48 versus Cal-State Los Angeles.

Next up for the Mavericks is one more road trip to New Mexico Highlands (9/11) and Western New Mexico (9/12) before their 2009 home debut September 18 versus RMAC foe Western State College.
