Tessa Andrews and Alisan Tompkins combined for 29 kills matching Western State's (1-10, 1-2) total kills in the Mavericks three-set victory Friday night at Brownson Arena.
MSC's (5-7, 3-0) home opener in the newly renovated Brownson Arena was the Mavs fourth consecutive win. MSC sits atop the west division, tied with Adams State.
Andrews finished with 15 kills and Tompkins recorded 14 kills and seven digs. Antoinette McCormick and Gabrielle Lovato each finished with seven kills and combined for five digs.
Setter Tara King had a game high 42 assists while the team finished with 47 kills. King added two kills and five digs. Megan Rush recorded 11 of the teams 42 digs and two service aces.
Western State had 6.0 team blocks on the night and was led by Lindsay Huson's six kills.
MSC will host Fort Lewis College Saturday night at 7 p.m.
