Fourth ranked Mesa State won two RMAC games versus the Nebraska-Kearney Lopers this past weekend. The Mavericks have now won 12 in a row and 18 of its last 19 games. With the two wins, they now have a 5 game lead on New Mexico Highlands and a 6 game lead on CSU-Pueblo.
In Game 1, Senior outfielders
Justin Little and
Craig Lanzarotta paced the Maverick offense in the 7-3 victory that went into extra innings. Little finished the game 3-6, raising his season average to .392. Lanzarotta hit his seventh and eighth doubles of the season in the win.
Junior
Scott Bachman won his third game of the season in relief of starter
Brent Lamaster. Lamaster went seven and two-thirds innings allowing just six hits and 3 walks while striking out three.
In Game 2,
Justin Little broke the school record for hits in a career in the 6-4 win. Little broke the record with a single to left field in the third inning for his 247th hit in a Maverick uniform. The previous record was held by Landon Wareham with 246 hits.
Senior
Chris Carma picked up his sixth win, pitching four and two-thirds allowing five hits and striking out four.

The final two games of the weekend were cancelled due to the wintery conditions in Nebraska.
The Mavericks return to Suplizio Field this week to face the Colorado School of Mines Orediggers. Thursday marks the return of the American Cancer Society Game of Hope Night. A portion of the ticket sales will benefit the American Cancer Society. The Mavericks will be wearing purple 'Hope' hats and after the game will be auctioning off their game worn hats. Game time is slated for 7:00pm.
