Lance Fite's 15 points leads Mavs to RMAC victory

Mavs Top Colorado Christian 75-45

Win RMAC Opener

Mesa State (5-0, 1-0) opened up Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play on the road defeating Colorado Christian 75-45 Friday night in Lakewood. MSC jumped out to a 40-22 halftime lead and never trailed by less than double digits the entire second half.

 

MSC had three players in double digits led by Lance Fite's 15 points shooting 5 of 7 from the floor and 5 of 6 from the foul line. Fite pulled down five rebounds and had one assist in 24 minutes of action.

 

Mike Dominguez and Jase Herl recorded 12 points each and combined for 10 rebounds, six assists and four steals.

 

MSC shot 50 percent (24-48) from the field, out rebounded the Cougars 33-30, tallied 13 assists and forced 20 CCU turnovers. CCU shot 30 percent (12-40) from the floor including just 5 of 20 (25%) in the second half.

 

CCU's Jobi Wall finished with a game high 16 points but scored just two points in the second half. Wall scored 14 of the Cougars 22 first half points and just three different CCU players scored in the first half.

 

MSC will play at Colorado School of Mines Saturday in Golden. The Orediggers beat Western State Friday night 86-67.  Tune in at 7:45 for pre-game (tip-off 8 p.m.) on KEXO 1340 AM and via the internet at www.mesamavs.com.
