Mesa men (7-0, 3-0) defeated Regis University (2-3, 0-3) 74-61 to extend its unbeaten streak to seven in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action Saturday night at Brownson Arena.
MSC trailed 32-35 at half but out scored the Rangers 42-26 in the second half. The Mavericks shot 63.6 percent (28-44) from the floor including 69.6 percent (16-23) in the second half. Regis shot 56.0 percent (14-25) in the first half but struggled in the second half shooting 30.0 percent (9-30).
Jase Herl's 21 points, 10 rebounds and four assists led the Mavs. Mike Dominguez finished with 16 points and a team high six assists. Lance Fite recorded 15 points (7-8), two rebounds and two assists in 18 minutes of action. Fite's lay-up at 15:35 of the second half gave the Mavs its first lead of the game (45-44). MSC never trailed again pushing the lead to as high as 19 points with under a minute remaining in regulation.
Regis was led by Matt Rosinski's game high 24 points, 17 of those in the first half.
MSC will host No.-15th ranked Metro State Sunday night at 7 p.m.
