Mesa State (18-10, 1-3) volleyball closed out the regular season on the road with a 5-set victory (31-29, 18-25, 25-20, 24-26, 15-8) over Western State (7-20, 7-12). MSC had four players with double-digit kills including a double-double by Alisan Tompkins (13 kills, 26 digs) and Tara King (57 assists, 18 digs).
Antoinette McCormick recorded a team high 17 kills and a .343 hitting percentage. Tessa Andrews finished with 14 kills and 3 blocks and Gabrielle Lovato had 11 kills and 3 blocks.
Western State tallied 18 blocks to the Mavs 7 and hit .200 to MSC's .165 hitting percentage. MSC had 44 errors to WSC's 22, but had 20 more kills (77) than the Mountaineers (57).
MSC will enter the RMAC tournament next Thursday as the #2 seed and play #7-seed Adams State College in the first round of the single elimination tournament. The three day tournament is being played at #1-seed University of Neb.-Kearney.
