Mesa State women's swim team defeated Adams State 154-56 in the first ever dual meet hosted by Adams State. The Grizzlies, in their first year as a collegiate program, hosted the event on campus at Plachy Hall.
MSC had multiple dual winners led by Denby Gardiner, Kelly Hogan, Jaclyn McMillen and Rebecca Reed clinching two individual wins each.
Gardiner won the 100 breaststroke (1:15.37) and 200 breaststroke (2:46.88). Hogan took first in the 100 freestyle (57.64) and 500 freestyle (5:37.43). Jaclyn McMillen won the 200 freestyle (2:03.88) and 200 backstroke (2:14.92). Reed placed first in the 100 backstroke (1:02.81) and 200 backstroke (2:14.92).
Gina Panacci won the 200 butterfly in a time of 2:28.19. Rachel Bailey took first in the 200 IM in a time of 2:28.06.
MSC took first place in the 200 medley relay (Bailey, Katie Wedel, Brittany Linder, Abby Schmeckpeper-Cook) in a time of 2:03.36. MSC's team of Gardiner, Panacci, McMillen and Wedel won the 400 freestyle relay in a time of 3:57.15.
MSC will be back in action on January 2 in Phoenix at the Grand Canyon Invitational.
