Ramirez scores 2 goals and notches 5 points in the win

Mavs Tame T-Wolves

            On a cold October Friday night, the Mavericks Women's Soccer team caught fire. The Mavericks erupted for two early goals en route to a 3-0 RMAC soccer win. With the win, the Mavericks guaranteed themselves a spot in the RMAC playoffs that begin Wednesday at site yet to be determined.

            The scoring got going early for the Mavericks. Jr. Daniela Ramirez (Rupert, ID) scored her 9th goal of the season in the 2nd minute of action. Ramirez headed the ball in the left side of the goal off a corner kick from Fr. Kelci Crispe (Aurora, CO). The goal put the Mavs up 1-0.

            A minute and sixteen seconds later, Crispe got in on the scoring action. Kelci scored her 4th goal of the season in the 3rd minute of the game to push the Maverick lead to 2-0. Crispe took a pass from Ramirez and put it in on the left side of the goal as well.

            Mesa State got an extra insurance goal in the 52nd minute from Daniela Ramirez. Ramirez scored her 10th goal of the season and 2nd goal of the game to put the Maverick on top 3-0. Ramirez took a pass from Sr. Jami Simpson (Broomfield, CO) and put it in top shelf. 

            Sr. Kaitlan Bennett (Federal Way, WA) got the start in goal and recorded the shutout. It was Bennett's first shutout of the season and the 4th on the season for Mesa State.

            The Mavericks will be on the road the rest of the season. Sunday, they will face the Regis Rangers in a possible first round preview of the RMAC Tournament.
