Mavs Drop Tough One to Cougars

The Mesa State Women's soccer team outplayed and beat Colorado Christian in every facet of the game except the one that counts in the end...the scoreboard. The Mavericks dropped a 1-0 decision to the visiting Colorado Christian Cougars on Friday afternoon at Walker Field. The loss drops Mesa State's record to 8-9-0 on the season and 5-8-0 in RMAC play.

The lone goal of the contest came in the 69th minute when Cougar Nicole Gill booted a long pass behind the defense where fellow Cougar Jessica Smith sprinted past the rest of the defense and put the ball in the left side of the goal. It was Smith's 3rd goal of the season.

Mesa State out shot the Cougars (17-8), made more saves (5-3), and controlled the ball for most of the game but it wasnt enough.

Colorado Christian's record improved to 8-6-3 on the season and 5-6-2 in RMAC competition.

Mesa State wil travel to Kearney, NE for Sunday's tilt with the Lopers. Mesa State will be back for their last home game of the season on Friday October 30th as they take on the CSU-Pueblo Thunderwolves.
