Mesa State traveled to Pueblo looking to keep pace in both the RMAC standings and the NCAA Central Region Rankings. Before the match, Mesa State was ranked 5th in the RMAC standings and 8th in the Central Region Rankings.
The match started out as a stalemate for the first 25 minutes. But in the 30th minute, Thunderwolf Candice Duffy gave CSU-Pueblo the lead on her 3rd goal of the season. Duffy's goal would prove to be the difference maker as CSU-Pueblo would go on to win, 1-0.
CSU-Pueblo Goalkeeper Randi Walters earned a well deserved shutout as she made 10 saves.
The Mavericks fell to 8-8-0, 5-7-0 while CSU-Pueblo improved to 4-10-2, 3-8-1. The NCAA Central Region poll will be released sometime on Wednesday. The Top Six teams qualify for the NCAA Tournament and have the oppurtunity to win the National Championship.
Next up for Mesa State will be the Colorado Christian Cougars on Friday at Walker Field. Scheduled start time for that match is 2:00pm.
