Women Swim to Victory at Colorado Mines

Post 3-1 record in 5-way meet

MSC women's swim team opened the 2009-10 season at the Colorado School of Mines 5-way meet. MSC went 3-1 defeating; Adams State 163-24, Colorado School of Mines 139-90, Metro's club team 154-56 and falling to Division CU-Boulder 199-166.

Gina Panacci won the 100 freestyle in a time of 11:20.85 and placed second in the 50 free (5:37.70). Panacci was the second leg on the 400 freestyle relay team, finishing second in a time of 3:45.09.

Kelly Hogan won the 200 freestyle in a time of 2:00.14 and the 100 free (55.48).

Rebecca Reed placed first in the 50 freestyle (25.61) and third in the 100 free (56.88).

Katie Wedel won the 200 IM in a time of 2:13.44 and finished second in the 100 breaststroke (1:09.97). Sarah Hagerstrom placed third in the 200 IM (2:24.84).

Rachel Bailey took top honors in the 100 backstroke (1:02.02) and third (26.40) in the 50 free.

MSC's 400 free relay team (Hogan, Panacci, Hagerstrom, Reed) placed second (3:45.09). In the 200 medley relay (Jaclyn McMillen, Wedel, Danielle Shabelski, Bailey) finished second (1:55.28).

Abby Schmeckpeper-Cook was second overall in the 1 meter diving.

MSC will compete at the DU Relays Saturday, October 10.
