Mesa State saw its win streak snapped at five following a split on the road sweeping CSU-Pueblo Friday night (25-22, 25-20, 25-18) before falling at Adams State in three sets (18-25, 18-25, 15-25). The loss at Adams was the first conference loss this season (7-6, 5-1) and improved the Grizzlies to .500 (6-7, 3-3) in league play.
MSC totaled 14 team blocks against CSU-P, including a season high 10 block assist by Lindsey Jefferson (So., M, 6'2, Orem, Utah). The sophomore outside hitter added one solo block, one dig and five kills. Freshman Corinne Cascioppo (Fr., RS, 6'3, Temecula, CA) led all players with 10 kills.
The loss dropped the Thunderwolves to 2-12 overall and 0-6 in conference play.
Saturday's match up with the Grizzlies was a turn around for Friday night. ASC registered 11.5 blocks and .378 hitting percentage for the match. MSC tallied five blocks and hit .077 in the three set match.
Cascioppo led the team with 11 kills and Alisan Tompkins (Jr., OH, 5'10, Grand Junction, CO) finished with nine kills. Senior Ashley Loftsgard (Sr., L, 5'5, Granby, CO) had a game high 13 digs.
MSC in conjunction with Homecoming week will host an Alumni match Sunday afternoon in Brownson Arena at 2 p.m.
The Mavericks will host eastern conference foes, Colorado Christian, Metro State and Regis this coming Thursday (7 p.m.), Friday (7 p.m.) and Saturday (3 p.m.) respectively
