Daniela Ramirez (So., 5'3, F, Rupert, ID) scored a team leading fifth goal (Kira Brannan – assist) with just under four minutes in to the game to give the Mavericks a 1-0 lead. The goal eventually became the game winning goal as the remaining 86 minutes were scoreless.
MSC dominated the game with 23 shots to the Cougars four shots. MSC's defense held CCU to zero shots in the first period. MSC held a 7-0 corner kick advantage.
Goalkeeper Kaitlin Bennett (Jr., 5'8, Federal Way, WA) played all 90 minutes for the Mavericks recording two saves.
Katrina Hartfield (Jr., DEF, 5'5, Arvada, CO), Alyssa Michel (Fr., F, 5'7, Bellingham, WA), Natalie Koen (So., MF, 5'3, Rio Rancho, NM), Sherilyn Stoffel (Jr, MF, 5'4, Grand Junction, CO), Ramirez and Brannan all tallied multiple shots.
The victory improved the Mavs to 5-1-0 overall and 2-1-0 in conference action.
MSC will host Fort Lewis College Sunday, 1:30 p.m. at the newly christened, Walker Field.
