MSC volleyball advances to the RMAC championship game coming from two sets down to defeat Colorado School of Mines 3-2 (20-25, 23-25, 25-23, 25-14, 15-9) on Saturday evening in Kearney, NE. The Mavs will face Regis University for the title Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.
Five Maverick players posted double digit digs and two players tallied double digit kills. Alisan Tompkins (Jr., OH, 5'10, Grand Junction, CO) recorded a double-double, a game high 22 kills and 14 digs. Ashley Loftsgard (Sr., L, 5'5, Granby, CO) led all players with 26 digs. Setter Tara King (So., S, 5'9, Steamboat Springs, CO) finished with 59 assists and 15 digs. Meredith Dolny (Jr., L, 5'9, Moscow, ID) had 16 digs and Whitney Howard recorded 10. Senior Jessica Bird hit .333 in the match with 13 kills, three errors in 30 attempts.
The RMAC champion will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Division II tournament.
