Mesa State fell to host Regis University 1-0 when the Rangers Jordan Miller scored her ninth goal of the season with less than four minutes remaining in regulation Sunday afternoon in Denver.
In a scoreless first half MSC was outshot by the Rangers 10-2. Regis also held a 3-1 corner kick advantage. The second period MSC compiled eight shots but could not find the back of the net with just three of their 10 shots being on goal. RU tallied 17 shots total, four on goal, in a tight RMAC matchup.
The loss dropped the Mavs to 8-4-0 overall 3-3-0 in league play. With the victory the Rangers are 7-5-0 and 4-2-0 in RMAC action.
Alyssa Michel (F, Fr., 5'7, Bellingham, WA) and Natalie Koen (MF, So., 5'3, Rio Rancho, NM) had four shots each for the Mavericks. Julie Rasmussen (Fr., 5'0, Rio Rancho, NM) started at goalkeeper and recorded three saves. Kaitlin Bennett (Jr., 5'8, Federal Way, WA) played the final 21 minutes and allowed one goal.
MSC will play at home Wednesday versus Dixie State at 4 p.m. in a non-conference game. Friday MSC will host RMAC foe Adams State College at 4:30 p.m. at Walker Field.
