Three first half goals by the Mavericks led to a 3-1 victory at Colorado Christian Sunday afternoon in Lakewood, CO. The win improved their record to 12-6-1 overall and 7-4 in RMAC action.
Daniela Ramirez (F, 5'3, Rupert, ID) scored the team's first goal and assisted on the last goal in Sunday's action. Ramirez scored 5:39 in to the game on an assist by Natalie Koen (MF, So., 5'3, Rio Rancho, NM).
Sherilyn Stoffel (MF, Jr., 5'4, Grand Junction, CO) scored her second goal of the weekend on a put back on a rebound off the post at 25:54. With under 15 seconds remaining in the half Rachelle Ormond (F, So., 5'9, Peoria, AZ) found the lower left corner (Ramirez-assist) for a 3-0 halftime lead.
MSC had 11 shots in the first period and outshot the Cougars 18-7 in the game. CCU's goal came in the 84th minute of the match. Kaitlin Bennett (Jr., 5'8, Federal Way, WA) recorded three saves and allowed one goal in the win.
The Mavericks return home next weekend to host Regis and Metro State on Friday and Sunday respectively.
