Volleyball Falls in Five at Mines

Drops final 3 sets

                The volleyball team raced out to a 2-0 set lead at Colorado School of Mines Saturday night, only to drop the final three sets and the match, 25-18, 25-20, 21-25, 18-25, 10-15. The loss puts the Mavs at .500 0n the season, 10-10 overall and 8-5 in RMAC action.

                Alisan Tompkins (Jr., OH, 5'10, Grand Junction, CO) finished with a game high 23 kills and recorded a double-double with 17 digs. Jessica Bird (Sr., MB, 5'10, Honolulu, HI) and Corinne Cascioppo (Fr., RS, 6'3, Temecula, CA) added 13 and 12 kills respectively. The team hit .147 in the match, recording 39 errors (67 kills). The Orediggers hit .190 and committed 22 errors (54 kills).

                Tara King (So., S, 5'9, Steamboat Springs, CO) had 54 assists in the match and four players recorded double digit digs, led by Ashley Loftsgard's (Sr., L, 5'5, Granby, CO) 18 digs. Grand Junction native, Kaity Edmiston, finished with 10 digs and five blocks for the Orediggers.

                MSC will return home this weekend to host Adams State College on Friday and CSU-Pueblo on Saturday night. Both matches will start at 7 p.m.
