Michel scores two goals in 3-2 victory

Mesa State women's soccer improved to 10-6 overall and 5-4 in RMAC action with a 3-2 victory on the road at CSU-Pueblo. Two second half goals gave the Mavericks the edge holding off the T-Wolves late in the game.
Freshman Alyssa Michel (F, Fr., 5'7, Bellingham, WA) scored the teams first two goals in the game, one in the first period to tie the game at 1-1 at the 35:54 mark. CSU-Pueblo jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on a goal by Marli Martin 6:28 in to the game.
Early in the second period Michel gave the Mavericks a 2-1 lead, scoring her fifth goal of the year on an assist from Daniela Ramirez (F, 5'3, Rupert, ID). Ramirez also assisted Michel's first goal of the game. Kylie Kegans (F, 5'9, Claremont, CA) goal on a free kick (75:34) extended the lead to 3-1. The T-Wolves pulled to within one on an un-assisted goal by Rikki Warmack with a little over 12 minutes remaining in regulation.
Julie Rasmussen (GK, Fr., Rio Rancho, NM) recorded six saves and was credited with the victory. MSC was out-shot by CSU-P 14-9 and the T-Wolves had a 3-0 corner kick advantage.
