Kylie Kegans (Sr., F, 5'9, Claremont, CA) and Natalie Koen (So., MF, 5'3, Rio Rancho, NM) led the Mesa State Mavericks (9-5, 4-3) to a 2-0 shut out victory over Adams State (1-13, 0-7) Friday night at Walker Field. Kegans took a cross pass from Daniela Ramirez (So., 5'3, F, Rupert, ID) (63:19) for a 1-0 lead. Koen scored her first goal of the season (84:26) off a rebound shot.
MSC's defense smothered the Grizzlies, who were only able to register three shots in the game. MSC out shot ASC 25-3, posting double digit shots in each period. Kegans and Alyssa Michel (Fr., F, 5'7, Bellingham, WA) had five shots each, while 10 different Mav players tallied at least one shot.
Kaitlin Bennett (Jr., 5'8, Federal Way, WA) played the entire 90 minutes in the net, recording two saves and her fourth shut out of the year.
MSC will travel to Fort Lewis College for a match up with the Skyhawks on Sunday.
