GRAND JUNCTION, COLO. – Sam Bryant of Colorado Mesa University won the 500 free for his third individual title at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships Friday (Feb. 10). Bryant set new school, pool and RMAC records with a time of 4:28.13.
Bryant led off the Mavericks 800 free relay to a second place finish in a school-record time of 6:37.24. other members of the team included Jerry Veneris, Ryan Gifford and Josh Bedford.
The Mavericks third school record of the evening came from Josh Bedford who finished second in the 100 breaststroke in a time of 55.21.
Mary Saiz led the women with a third place finish in the 100 backstroke with a time of 55.96.
Miranda Reetz finished third (1:04.62), and Sam White was fourth (1:04.65) in the 100 breaststroke.
Sage D'Ambrosia was third (489.00), and Noah Macomber was fourth (477.95) on the one-meter. Josh Lyons finished eighth (337.65).
Abi Young and Kat Gerstmar finished sixth (5:11.89) and seventh (5:13.93) in the 500 free.
In the men's 500 free, Ryan Gifford finished fifth (4:37.97), Jerry Veneris seventh (4:42.25) and Landon Ellis eighth (4:43.74).
CMU had three men in the top-eight of the men's 100 backstroke led by Eric Berg in third (49.73). Sky Hirsch was fifth (50.98), and Filip Dolk was eighth (51.71).
Candice Rosen finished fourth (2:08.95) in the 200 fly, followed by Danielle Fournier in fifth (2:10.79), and Katelin Staab in seventh (2:13.40).
Morgan Bean and Chris Radomski finished fifth (1:52.32) and seventh (1:53.23) in the men's 200 fly.
The women's 800 free relay of Madelaine McClain, Marissa Bradley, Candice Rosen and Danielle Fournier finished fifth in a time of 7:49.12.
Colorado Mesa leads the men's team standings with 775.5 points over California Baptist with 708 points.
California Baptist leads Colorado Mesa 792-564 in the women's standings.
The RMAC Championships conclude Saturday (Feb. 11).
