SPORT OVERSIGHT: Cycling, Hockey, Rugby, Rodeo, Alpine and Nordic Skiing
Wendy Young joined the Colorado Mesa staff in 2016 and works primarily with the Cycling, Hockey, Rugby, Rodeo, Alpine and Nordic Skiing programs.
Prior to her time at CMU, Young worked at Western Orthopedics and Sports Medicine from 2007 to 2018 as an Athletic Trainer and Surgical Assistant in Orthopedic Surgeries. She helped provide medical coverage to several organizations and for various events including Colorado Mesa Hockey, High School Football, Club Soccer, and the Rimrock Marathon.
She also served as a Physical Therapy aide from 2005-07.
A native of Palisade, Colo., Wendy earned her B.A. in Athletic Training from Colorado Mesa University.
MAVERICK MOMENT: Watching an athlete win an individual and team National Championship title 10 months to the day after sustaining life threatening injuries in a mountain bike crash. He was told that he would not compete again after his injuries. We worked hard with rehabilitation over the 10 months following his injuries, so to watch him win a national championship and stand on the podium is a moment I will never forget!
