Reese Kegans started with Colorado Mesa University (Mesa State) where he played soccer on the first-ever Maverick men's soccer team and received All-Conference honors.
Reese then served on the men's soccer coaching staff as a Graduate Assistant where he helped guide the Mavericks to a spot in the NCAA Final Four. He served the next season on the women’s soccer coaching staff as an assistant.
In 2013, Reese joined the Athletics Department as the Assistant Athletic Director and oversees the 26 Collegiate sport teams that compete towards a Collegiate National Championship outside the NCAA. Reese has helped elevate the CMU Cycling Program to a perennial power in Varsity Collegiate Cycling. The Cycling team has won the overall National Championship for five consecutive years.
Every year, Reese and the CMU Rodeo team host the “Maverick Stampede Rodeo” which has received the Collegiate Rodeo of year award the last 4 consecutive years. A highlight of the 2024-25 season was when the CMU Cycling and Rodeo programs were both ranked as the #1 programs in the Country at the same time. In the Club tier, Nordic Ski & Women’s Rugby are additional National Championship recipients. 16 of the 26 teams advanced to their respective leagues National Championships in the 2024-25 season.
Reese is the lead on the largest single event CMU does for charity. Over the last 8 years, Reese and the CMU Ice Hockey team host an annual “Pink the Rink” cancer fundraiser that has generated over $170,000 for local Cancer Patients
The Southern California native, Kegans graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management from CMU and Master’s degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University Irvine.
