Dave Jahnke enters his tenth year overseeing the sports information efforts for Colorado Mesa University Athletics.

Jahnke, as most refer to him, arrived in Grand Junction during the Spring of 2002 and received his Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science in 2007. During his undergrad, he dedicated his time to the Baseball team as a student-assistant while also assisting with other aspects throughout the athletics department.

After completing his degree, he stepped into the Sport Information Assistant role under former Sports Information Director (SID) Ian Marks. In 2011-2012, Jahnke was promoted full-time taking over the SID role.

He oversees the communication efforts for football, triathlon, women’s basketball, men’s and women’s wrestling, men’s and women’s golf, and baseball.

In addition to his work within CMU Athletics, he is an active member of the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Regional and National Committees, the Colorado Mesa Hall of Honor Committee, and served as a voter for the Tino Martinez Award (Division II National Player of the Year) from 2013-2016. He is also an active member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

He has been the host SID for seven RMAC Baseball Tournaments where the Mavericks took home the title six times. As the main point of communication for the baseball program, he reported for the 2014 National College Athletics Association (NCAA) Division II Runner Up team and both team’s College World Series (CWS) appearances.

Most recently Jahnke helped lead the redesign of the cmumavericks.com website, which got a revamped look in 2018.
