Overall Career Honors

• RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll - 2023-24 Indoor

2023-24 Indoor (Redshirt Freshman): Finished ninth in both the shot put and weight throw at the Mountaineer Open, her only meet... Recorded marks of 9.21 meters (30-2.75) and 12.18 meters (39-11.5) in those respective events... Named to the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll.

2023 Outdoor (Freshman): Redshirt season… Competed unattached in three throwing events at the Maverick Invite posting marks of 10.23 meters (33-6.75) in the shot put, 29.95 meters (98-3) in the discus throw and 36.49 meters (119-9) in the hammer throw.

2022-23 Indoor (Freshman): Redshirt season… Competed unattached at the Mountaineer Open & Multi recording a mark of 10.14 meters (33-3.25) in the shot put while fouling all of her attempts in the weight throw.

Prep: 2022 graduate of Eagle High School… Threw for the Mustangs and coach Ron Rathbun… Finished fourth at the 5A Idaho State Championships as a senior after placing ninth as a junior in 2021… Finished second at the District 3 Championships as a senior… Had five shot put wins that season, while setting a PR of 36-10… Was nominated as for the school’s female athlete of the year award… Graduated with honors and a 4.2 GPA in the top 3 percent of her high school class of nearly 500.

Personal: Is majoring in biochemistry… Aspires to attend the University of Utah’s medical program to pursue a career as a cardiothoracic surgeon… Daughter of Boyd and Catherine Layton… Has one younger sibling— Rhys… Enjoys hiking, backpacking, whitewater rafting, card games and hanging out with friends.

Why I Chose CMU: “I love Grand Junction and all of the outdoor activities available in the Grand Mesa and Colorado National Monument. The people here were also so nice and welcoming.  It really just felt like home.
