Tim Reetz

Tim Reetz joined the Mavericks' coaching staff in the fall of 2018 as the Mavericks' sprints, hurdles and relays coach and was promoted to the role of Associate Head Track & Field Coach in the summer of 2024.

He also was the head coach of the Maverick cross country team for two seasons in 2019 and 2020.

In Coach Reetz’s first six years at CMU the sprint, relay and hurdle squads have had amazing success.  Every school record has been shattered and most of every top ten performance has come during his tenure.  Reetz has coached ten first team and ten second team All-Americans, as well as the first ever female NCAA Division II National Champions in CMU athletic history in the 2021 Indoor National Champion Women’s 4x400-meter relay team.

He has also coached Sierra Arceneaux to back-to-back RMAC Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year awards and Elijah Williams to the 2022 RMAC Indoor Championship Athlete of the Meet honor.  Reetz has also guided athletes to 18 RMAC Championships.

He was formerly the head coach at Palisade High School, where he built a program that regularly finished in the top 10 at the Colorado High School Activities Associate 4A State Championships.  The Bulldogs won a combined four Western Slope League titles, their first since the 1980’s and finished as runners-up seven more times. Named as the WSL Track Coach of the Year four times, he guided three state champions, 12 all-state performers, 40 state placers and 60 all-conference athletes.

In his days as a student-athlete, Reetz was a six-time all-conference hurdler and 3-time NCAA Division II All-American at both Lewis University in his native Illinois and perennial RMAC and NCAA power Adams State. Reetz was the NCAA Division II 60-meter hurdle champion in 2002 while running at ASU. He completed his bachelor’s degree in English with a minor in secondary English education in December 2004 from Adams State.

Reetz, who has dual citizenship, also was a member of the Great British Athletics team from 2002-04 and is a USA Track & Field Certified Level 1 coach.

Tim is married to his beautiful wife Jill and they have three amazing boys.
