The 2018 season will mark the first for Liz Beville as an assistant coach with Colorado Mesa lacrosse. Hired in the summer of 2017, Beville comes to CMU following coaching stints at SUNY Cortland and Muhlenberg College. She also served as Club Director for the Orange Crush Girl’s Club Lacrosse program based out of Syracuse, NY for four years.
In 2017, Beville attended and graduated from the NCAA Women Coaches Academy (WCA), a 4-day educational training available to NCAA coaches of all experience levels. The WCA, hosted in partnership between the Alliance of Women Coaches and the NCAA, is designed for women coaches who are ready and willing to increase their individual effectiveness by learning advanced skills and strategies that directly affect their personal and team success. Participants focus on non-sport specific concepts beyond the X’s and O’s in an environment that fosters inclusion across the sports community. Since the first WCA session in 2003, forty-three academies have taken place, producing more than 1,650 graduates.”
Prior to her arrival in Grand Junction, Beville spent two years at SUNY Cortland where she served in several capacities as an assistant coach. In her first season at SUNY Cortland, the team finished 21-1 and advanced to the DIII Final Four. In 2017, the team finished 14-5 and made an NCAA playoff game appearance. While coaching at Cortland, Beville completed her Masters degree in Sport Management.
Beville got her start in the college coaching ranks in 2014-2015 school year when she was hired as the assistant coach at Muhlenberg College. During her time in Allentown, the team went 9-7 and hosted their first ever Centennial Conference playoff game.
In the fall of 2013, Beville helped start the Orange Crush Girl’s Club Lacrosse program. She was responsible for hiring staff, creating and implementing practice sessions, evaluating players, strategizing for tournament games, and served as a contact for collegiate coaches. Under her coaching and guidance Beville had 16 of her high school student-athletes commit to Division 1 institutions to continue their lacrosse career.
Collegiately, Beville competed for SUNY Cortland from 2010 to 2014 as a midfielder. She was a team captain, earned the team’s Red Letter Award and was selected as a member of the SUNYAC All-Academic team as a senior. During her career, Cortland went unbeaten at home and advanced to four consecutive NCAA DIII Final Fours. Beville received a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from SUNY Cortland.
