As a Freshman (2018): Competed in two early season meets, placing 35th at the Joe I. Vigil Open with a 3.1-mile time of 21:15.4, a season-best... Was 59th at the Mountaineer Cowboy Invite with a 5K time of 21:35.
Prep: Was the Alaska Region 3 Runner of the Year and individual champion and the 4A state-runner up in 2015 (sophomore) for the Kenai Central High School Kardinal… Set a 5K XC PR of 19:04 at that state meeet… Went on to place sixth at the state meet as a junior (2016) and 11th as a senior… Placed third in the 1600 meters on the track with a PR time of 5:22.13 at the 2015 Region III Championships… Qualified for state in that event twice… Had a 3200 PR time of 11:45… Placed sixth in that event at the 2017 state championships…. Also placed third in the 4x800-meter relay.
Personal: Daughter of Todd and Kelli Boonstra… Has two younger sisters (Jayna and Tania)... Is majoring in nursing… Plans to continue on to get an MSN and get a specialized degree as a neonatal nurse practitioner… Loves to hike, compete in mountain races and cross country skiing.
