Indoor Volleyball Bio
As a Redshirt Sophomore (2022): Went 7-1 in extra and exhibition matches throughout the season… Two of her wins came with partner Taylor Scherff to claim Pool 4 of the Pairs Challenge at the AVCA Small College Championships… Had played with Rianne Brown, Schereff and Izzy Burns earlier in the season… Also had another split-set match with Brown that did not have a final outcome.
As a Redshirt Freshman (2021): Played in three total matches with partner Savannah Ott early in the season... Lost a No. 5 affair against Arizona in her first appearance in the official dual lineup before dropping a Cactus Classic Pairs Challenge match... The duo did win an exhibition match against Utah on Mar. 6.
As a Freshman (2020): Played in three exhibition matches with partner Savannah Spitzer during the Arizona Invitational on Feb. 28-29, CMU's lone action of the season before the COVID-19 outbreak... Went 0-2-1 splitting sets against Payson Kelly and Bailey Mulder of Stephen F. Austin.
Prep: Graduated a semester early (December, 2019) from Rio Americano HS… Was a 3-time All-Capital Athletic League pick for the John Grix coached Raiders for indoor volleyball… Was also named to the All-Metro and All-City teams and to the Sacramento Bee’s Top 20 player listing in 2019… Captained the Raiders to tenth place in the NorCal CIF State championship… Set the school-record for the most successful serve receptions (659) in a season as a senior in 2019… Was named to the 2019 All-Star Optimist Game game helping the South Team to victory… Was a 4-year scholar-athlete award winner as a dual-sport athlete in volleyball and swimming.
Club: Played for Coach Rick McNabb and Rage… Helped the 17-1 team earn a bronze medal in the national division at the 2019 national championships… The squad was ranked 39
th in the country… Had helped the NCVC 16s finish 19
th in the open division at the 2018 Girls Junior National Championships… That squad was ranked 25
th in the country at the end of the season… Was a 2017 USA Volleyball A2 Invitational Team Member and an alternate for the A1 Team.
Personal: Is majoring in counseling psychology… Aspires to open a private practice as a clinical psychologist to work with kids and teens… Daughter of Mary and Dan Gwaltney… Enjoys listening to classic rock, baking, being a foodie and spending all my free time and money at Target or Chick-fil-A.
Why I Chose CMU: “First and foremost, the coaches were what drew me to CMU. But once I saw the campus and met the team, it felt like home. Plus, I am excited to explore the beautiful sights in the area.”
