As a Sophomore (2020): Played in 19 games, while making 15 total starts as the Mavs' primary catcher during the COVID-19 shortened season... Also had one start as a designated player... Hit .341 (14-41) at the plate... Had seven extra-base hits, including three home runs while slugging at a .683 clip... Scored nine runs and had 13 RBIs... Also drew five walks and finished with a .404 on-base percentage... The Mavs went 12-2 with her as the starting catcher... Had five hits, including two home runs and two doubles, in a Feb. 23 doubleheader sweep of Chadron State... Hit both home runs while tallying a career-high five RBIs in the second game of that twin-bill.
As a Freshman (2019): PIcked up Honorable Mention All-RMAC honors... Hit a solid .301 (25-83) in 38 appearances... Made 32 total starts as a catcher (21) and designated player (11) as part of multi-positional platoon... Hit four home runs and drove in 23 runs... Also had six doubles and a triple to finish with a .542 slugging percentage... Had a .402 on-base percentage after drawing seven walks while being hit nine times... Had three sacrifice flies and two stolen bases... Made just one error in 126 defensive chances, good for a strong .992 fielding percentage... Hit a home run for her first career hig against Cal State-East Bay (Feb. 7)... Drove in a season-high four runs on Mar. 31 in a win over Black Hills State.
Prep: First team all-conference and second team all-state as a junior (2016) and senior (2017) with the Scott Else coached Grand Junction Central HS Warriors… Was a 4-year letter-winner… Graduated in 2018.
Club: Played summer softball for the Triple Crown Starts, coached by Dave King.
Personal: Is majoring in psychology… Aspires to become a psychologist… Daughter of Dezi and Travis Hays… Older sister is Tyler… Enjoys playing softball, hanging with friends and riding horses.
Why I Chose CMU: “Because it was close to home, has a great softball program and has a very nice campus.”
