Kevin Bates

Kevin Bates has been the advisor for the Rodeo Program for the past 18 years and has been an employee of Colorado Mesa since 2005. He spent 17 years as an Information Technology Administrator before recently transitioning over to Property Management Coordinator.
 
Bates has served in the administration of five different Head Rodeo Coaches and currently serves as the Faculty Director for the Rocky Mountain Region of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association where he directs affairs for 11 colleges and universities in Southern Idaho, Utah, and Western Colorado.
 
He is actively involved in the community as he serves on the Mesa County Executive Fair Board for the past nine years and also is the official scorekeeper of the Maverick Wrestling program.
 
Kevin is a graduate of Utah State University where he studied Electrical Engineering. He and his wife, Susan, have three sons all of which completed their degrees at Colorado Mesa University.
 
For the past six years, he has lived at and are the caretakers for the Colorado Mesa Rodeo Facility on East Orchard mesa.
