2023 Outdoor (Redshirt Senior): Competed in four meets, including the RMAC Championships… Finished sixth at the conference meet to earn Second Team All-RMAC honors… Had a mark of 13.88 meters (46-6.65) at the conference meet after turning in a season-best of 14.41 meters (47-3.5) at the Maverick Invite, where he placed third… Ranked ninth on the RMAC season-long performance list with that effort.
2022-23 Indoor (Redshirt Senior): Contested the triple jump at four meets… Placed second in all three of his regular season meets before fouling on his attempts at the RMAC Championships… Had a season-best mark of 15.09 meters (49-6.25) at the Mountaineer Open & Multi… Was ranked fifth on both the RMAC and South Central Region season-long performers list with that NCAA provisional qualifying mark that was also good for the No. 15 spot on the NCAA provisional qualifying list… Ranks second in program history with that mark as well... Was unable to enter the NCAA Championships due to injury but did earn USTFCCCA All-Region honors.
2022 Outdoor (Redshirt Junior): Competed in the triple jump at four meets… Missed the middle portion of the season, including the RMAC Championships due to injury, but came back strong at the end of the campaign to qualify for the NCAA Division II Championships for the second straight year… Turned in a season-best mark of 15.15 meters (49-8.5) at the APU Last Chance to qualify for nationals, where he finished 16
th with a mark of 14.50 meters (47-7)… Was ranked second on the RMAC’s season-long performance list at 15.15 meters… Had also won the event at the RMAC Top Gun Last Chance Meet with a leap of 14.91 meters (48-11) in his first meet after the injury hiatus… Had recorded a long jump mark of 6.60 meters (21-8) at the Maverick Invite to begin the season.
2021-22 Indoor (Redshirt Junior): Competed in six meets, contesting the triple jump at four of them while long jumping in two… Also ran the 60 meters in two… Earned Second Team All-RMAC honors in the triple jump with a fourth place finish at the RMAC Championships… Recorded a season-best mark of 14.90 meters (48-10.75) to do so… Ranked sixth on the RMAC’s season long performers list… Had second place finishes at both the Mel Tjeerdsma Classic and Mountaineer Open & Multi… Had a season-best long jump effort of 6.70 meters (21-11.75) at the Mines Winter Classic… Had a season-best 60-meter time of 7.05 at the Western Colorado Open.
2021 Outdoor (Redshirt Junior): Had a break-out season as he qualified for his first NCAA Division II Championships after finishing third in the triple jump at the RMAC Championships… Earned First Team All-RMAC efforts with his mark of 15.47 meters (50-9.25) at the conference meet… Went on to finish ninth at the national meet in Allendale, Michigan to claim Second Team USTFCCCA All-America honors… Posted a mark of 15.06 meters (49-5) at the national championships… Ranks second in program history in the triple jump behind only fellow All-American Gunner Rigsby… Was ranked third on the RMAC season’s long performance list and earned USTFCCCA All-South Central Region honors as one of the region’s top performers… Was seeded sixth nationally going into the national championships… Had been the school-record holder after turning in a mark of 15.04 meters (49-4.25) at the Maverick Open en-route to Mar. 31 RMAC Field Athlete of the Week honors… Turned in a career-best long jump mark of 7.01 meters (23-0) to win the event at the Maverick Sun Classic… Ranks fourth in program history as one of just four men to reach seven meters and 23 feet outdoors in CMU history… Was just off that mark with a best of 7.00 meters (22-11.75) at the RMAC Championships, finishing 14
th in a very deep field… Competed at six meets in total.

2021 Indoor (Junior): Competed in three meets, including the RMAC Championships during the abbreviated season… Posted a season-best triple jump mark of 14.47 meters (47-5.75) to finish sixth at the RMAC Championships, good for a Second Team All-RMAC certificate… Also ended up sixth on the conference’s season-long performers list with that mark… Won the long jump at both the Western Slope Challenge and Adams State Grizzly Open, turning a season-best of 6.85 meters (22-5.75) at the Western Slope Challenge to open up the season… Also ran the 60 meters at Adams State, finishing in 7.28 seconds… Fouled on all three of his long jump efforts at the RMAC Championships.
2020 Outdoor: Season canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
2019-20 Indoor (Sophomore): Competed in six meets, including the RMAC Championships… Qualified for the RMAC meet in all three of his events… Had six top five finishes throughout the campaign… Finished fifth in the triple jump with a career-best and NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 14.50 meters (47-7)… Earned Second Team All-RMAC honors with the effort… Was ranked seventh in the RMAC and 42
nd nationally… Also had a career-best effort of 6.65 meters (21-10) in the long jump at the conference meet… Placed 12
th with the effor… Placed 14
th in the 60 meters with a time of 7.14… Had qualified with a time of 7.00, which was good for a second place finish in his season-opening meet (Western Colorado Open).
2019 Outdoor (Freshman): Competed in six meets, including the RMAC Championships... Finished fifth as part of the Mavs' 4x100m relay team and seventh in the triple jump at the conference meet... Ran the lead-off leg on the relay team, which turned in a time of 42.23 in the preliminary round... Won the triple jump at the Mines Kit Mayer Invite with a leap of 14.42w meters (47-3.75) to rank fifth on the conference's season-long performers list... Had a wind-legal best of 14.03m (46-0.5) at the Don Kirby Tailwind Open, where he placed second... Ran 11.54 seconds in his lone open 100m effort at the Fum McGraw Open.
2018-19 Indoor (Freshman): Competed in the sprints and horizontal jumps at six meets... Qualified for the RMAC Championships in the triple jump, finishing fifth with a season-best mark of 14.16m (46-5.5)... Earned Second Team All-RMAC honors for the effort... Was ranked seventh on the RMAC's season-long performers list... Had won that event at the both the season-opening Western Colorado Open and Adams State NCAA Qualifier... Also turned in other season-bests of 7.14 (60) and 6.24m/20-5.75 (long jump) at the Western meet on Dec. 1.
Prep: Competed in both the triple jump and the 100 meters at the 2018 5A State Championships for the Fort Collins HS Lambkins, coached by Conrad Crist... Finished fourth in the triple jump after setting a high school PR of 44-10 earlier in the year... Finished second in the 100 at the Front Range League meet with a PR time of 11.09 before taking 17th at state... Also helped the Lambkins qualify for state in the 4x100 and 4x200-meter relays... Had other PR's of 23.22w (200) and 20-10.5 (LJ) in 2018 as well... Earned first team all-conference honors in the 4x100 and second team all-honors in the 100.
Personal: Is majoring in exercise science... Son of Chuck and Robin Purnell... Has one sister- Sydney... Wants to become a physical therapist and work towards a doctorate in the field... Enjoys hanging out with friends, watching movies and listening to music.
