Summer 2024: Competed in the USA Track & Field U20 Championships in Eugene, Oregon, finishing fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 15.18 meters (49-9.75) on June 13… The top two finishers earned a spot on Team USA for the World Athletics U20 Championships in Lima, Peru.
2024 Outdoor (Freshman): Continued his impressive collegiate start, earning First Team All-America honors as well as another RMAC title and RMAC Freshman of the Year award… Set the CMU triple jump record with a mark of 15.84 meters (51-11.75) to win the RMAC title and qualify for the national championships as the No. 2 seed… Also set the CMU Track & Field Complex record... Went on to place fourth at the national meet with a mark of 15.81 meters (51-10.5) to garner his second all-America honor of the year… Would later be voted as the outright RMAC Freshman of the Year… Won the triple jump in his first four of six efforts… Led the RMAC season-long performance list in the triple jump by 39 centimeters over teammate Zace Buckhold, who also claimed USTFCCCA First Team All-America honors… Earned USTFCCCA All-South Central Region honors in both the triple jump and long jump and was named as the region’s top performer in the triple jump… Set a wind-aided long jump mark of 7.53 meters (24-8.5) to win the Maverick Invite #2… Went on to earn the Apr. 17 RMAC Field Athlete of the Week honor after his double-wins at that meet… Was ranked third in the RMAC and fifth in the region for the long jump with that mark… Would have also qualified for the national championships in the long jump… Was tied for 20
th on the national list in that discipline but did not declare for it at the NCAA meet to focus on the triple jump.. Ranks third in program history for the long jump with his wind-legal effort of 7.46 meters (24-5.75) at the same Maverick Invite #2…. Earned another Second Team All-RMAC honor in the long jump after placing fourth at the conference championships with a mark of 7.20 meters... Competed in six meets.
2023-24 Indoor (Freshman): Had a strong start to his collegiate career, earning several national, regional and conference awards… Jumped in six meets, including the NCAA Division II and RMAC Championships… Claimed Second Team USTFCCCA All-America honors after placing tenth in the triple jump at the national meet in Pittsburg, Kansas… Had won the conference title in that event two weeks earlier and went on to be voted as the RMAC’s Co-Freshman of the Year… Set a season-best mark of 15.57 meters (51-1) to claim his first collegiate win at the Indoor Gorilla Classic in a preview of the national championship site… Ranks second in program history with that effort… Led the RMAC season-long performance list by nearly a foot over teammate and fellow all-American Eddie Kurjak… Was also ranked sixth on the NCAA Championship qualification list and would be named as the USTFCCCA’s South Central Region Top Performer to lead the All-Region picks… Went on to jump 15.55 meters (51-0.25) to win the conference title….Turned in a mark of 15.12 meters (49-7.25) at the NCAA Championships, the same as his collegiate triple jump debut at the Colorado Running Company Pre-Holiday Invite & Multi… Also competed in the long jump in his first five meets, including the RMAC Championships… Set a season-best of 7.38 meters (24-2.5) at the Indoor Gorilla Classic, where he finished fourth to help him win RMAC Field Athlete of the Week honors on Feb. 14… Went on to place eighth at the RMAC Championships (7.05m/23-1.75)… Was ranked sixth on the RMAC performance list in the long jump… Was also tied for 21
st nationally… Stands second in CMU indoor history with his season-best.
Prep: 2023 graduate of Grand Junction High School… Won the long and triple jump state titles as a senior with the Tigers… Set the Colorado 4A State Champions record in the triple jump with a mark of 50-5… Went on to earn two all-America honors with fifth (long jump) and sixth (triple jump) place finishes at the Nike Outdoor Nationals… Also placed fifth in the 110 and sixth in the 300-meter hurdles at the 2023 state meet… Set PR times of 15.07 and 39.69 at the state meet… Won both jumping events and the 110 hurdles at the Southwestern League Championships…Was the 2022 state runner-up in the triple jump… Took fourth as a sophomore in 2021… Coached by Dustin Giesenhagen… Earned 18 all-conference honors throughout his career… Was named as the Grand Valley Track & Field Athlete of the Year… Earned ten athletic letters in five different sports… Was an academic all-state selection… Won the long jump at the 2023 Simplot Games during the 2023 indoor season… Played club soccer for Fire FC… Was coached by Ryan Arotin… His team was ranked first in Colorado and won the Real Cup while taking second in the Park City Cup… They won the GMIT five times.
Personal: Is majoring in outdoor recreation… Wants to continue working as a wildland fire fighter and go on to eventually become a smoke jumper… Son of Mike and Summer Jones… Has a younger sister— Mayzie… Enjoys skiing, biking, fishing, surfing, rafting, paddle boarding and lifting.
