2025 Outdoor (Redshirt Sophomore): Named to the RMAC Academic Honor Roll… Ran the 800 meters in five meets… Set a season-best time of 1:54.18 at the Mines Kit Mayer Classic… Qualified for the RMAC Championships with his altitude-adjusted time of 1:53.33… Finished 20th at the conference championships in 1:56.63… Also ran on a pair of Maverick 4x400-meter relays throughout the season.

2024-25 Indoor (Redshirt Sophomore): Ran the 800 meters at five meets, including the RMAC Championships… Also helped the Mavs set a school-record time of 10:11.53 at the Ichabod Invitational… Set an actual season-best time of 1:54.72 in the 800 at the same meet… Ranks sixth in program history… Had a slightly quicker altitude-adjusted time of 1:54.43 (1:55.17) at the Colorado Invitational to qualify for the RMAC Championships… Was 20th on the conference’s season-long performers list with that effort… Placed 18th at the conference meet in 2:05.80… Also ran on the Mavs’ distance medley relay team that finished tenth in 10:53.60… That time ranks 11th in program history… Named to the RMAC Academic Honor Roll.

2024 Outdoor (Redshirt Freshman): Ran in four meets, contesting the 800 meters at three of them… Scored two team points at the RMAC Championships, finishing in seventh place after turning in a season-best time of 1:53.77 in the preliminary round… Ranks fifth in program history with that time… Was also ranked eighth on the RMAC’s season-long performance list with his altitude-adjusted time of 1:53.21, which led the team… Ran the 1,500 meters in 4:11.11 at the Maverick Invite #2 in his lone attempt at that discipline… Helped the Mavs to a 4x400-meter relay time of 3:22.02, good for second place at the Maverick Invite & Multi... Named to the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll.

2023-24 Indoor (Redshirt Freshman): Ran in five meets, contesting the 800 meters at each… Set a season-best time of 1:57.15 at the New Mexico Team Open... Went on to place tenth at the RMAC Championships, his first conference championship experience, running to a flat track time of 1:57.78… Ranked 17th on the RMAC season-long performance list with his converted time of 1:55.16. from the Western Colorado Open (1:58.49)… Earned a spot on the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll.

2022-23 (Freshman): Redshirted during both the indoor and outdoor seasons… Competed unattached at three indoor meets and one outdoor meet, running the 800 meters in each… Had an indoor season-best time of 1:59.01 at the Western Colorado Alumni Open… Finished third in 1:56.23 at the Maverick Invite during the outdoor season.

Prep: 2022 graduate of Sheldon High School… Was the Huskies’ Team MVP three times… Was a 3-time All-Delta League performer… Won the 800 meters at the Sacramento State High School Classic and the Delta League Championships… Was the runner-up in that event at the CIF San Joaquin Section Division I Finals before finishing fourth in the Section’s Masters race with a PR time of 1:57.12… Received the section’s scholar athlete award in 2022… Was also the Huskies’ 2021-22 Male Athlete of the Year… Set other PRs of 4:35 (1600), 16:13 (5K) and 52.36 (400) during his career… Finished 15th at the San Joaquin Subsections cross country meet in 2021 after placing 13th as a sophomore in 2019… Also finished sixth at the Delta League Championship that year.

Personal: Is majoring in civil engineering… Wants to have a field job in that field or work in construction management… Son of Bill and Laurie Towne… Has a younger sister named Kayla, who is running cross country and track for UC Davis… Enjoys running, biking, hiking and anything outdoors… Also enjoys going on road trips to national parks with his family.

Why I Chose CMU: “I chose CMU because of the opportunities it had for me both academically and athletically. Not only does it have a strong engineering program, it also has a great running program, with an ideal location to train. The close knit team and coaching staff made it feel like a place I could see myself staying in for the next 4-5 years.”
