2023 Outdoor (Redshirt Junior): Competed in six meets, including the RMAC Championships… Missed out on NCAA Championship qualification for the first time in six total seasons after finishing tied for 29th (long jump) and 33rd (high jump) on the national qualification lists… Had set provisional qualifying season-best marks of 7.43 (24-4.5) and 2.07 (6-9.5) meters at the Kit Mayer Classic, his best meet of the season.. Won the high jump while placing second in the long jump at that meet… Ended up third in the high jump and fifth in the long jump on the RMAC’s season-long performers lists… Was sixth on the regional performance list in both disciplines… Finished fifth in the long jump at the RMAC Championships to garner Second Team All-RMAC honors… Had a mark of 7.21 meters (23-8) at the conference meet before going on to win the event at both the CSU Pueblo and Mines Last Chance meets in late-season efforts to try to qualify for the NCAA meet… Finished tenth in the high jump at the RMAC Championships with a clearance of 1.89 meters (6-2.25)… Was named to the RMAC All-Academic First Team for the sixth straight season... Was later selected as a College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-American® for the third straight year, becoming the first Maverick track & field athlete (both genders) to do so... Was a first team pick for the second straight year... Was also Selected to the CSC Academic All-District Team for the third straight year.

2022-23 Indoor (Redshirt Junior): Competed in seven meets, during another award-winning and record-setting season… Was named as the NCAA Division II Elite 90 Winner for the second straight year, for having the highest GPA (4.00) of any student-athlete at the national meet… Became the first CMU student-athlete in any sport to earn two NCAA Elite 90 awards… Was also named as the RMAC Academic Athlete of the Year for the third consecutive season and to the RMAC All-Academic First Team for the fifth consecutive season… Placed sixth in the long jump at the NCAA Division II National Championships to earn his fifth career USTFCCCA All-America honor, including his second first-team certificate… Matched Nolan Ellis as the most decorated men’s track & field athlete in program history in terms of total all-America certificates (5)… Leapt 7.31 meters (23-11.75) to do so... Had earned a pair of First Team All-RMAC honors at the RMAC Championships, placing second in both the high and long jump events with marks of 2.02 meters (6-7.5) and 7.51 meters (24-7.75), respectively… The high jump mark was a season-best that ranked him fifth on the RMAC’s season-long performers list… Had broke his own school-record in the long jump with a mark of 7.59 meters (24-11) en-route to victory at the Mines Winter Classic & Multi… Had won both disciplines two weeks earlier at the Western Colorado Open… Was named as the RMAC Field Athlete of the Week on Jan. 24 and Feb. 7 after both of those meets… Led the RMAC’s season-long performance list in the long jump and earned USTFCCCA All-Region honors as the No. 2 ranked long jumper in the South Central Region…. Was ranked sixth on the national list.

2022 Outdoor (Redshirt Sophomore): Continued to haul in a laundry list of athletic and academic honors while competing in the long jump at all seven of the team’s meets… Was selected as the RMAC Male Honor Student-Athlete of the Year as the top student-athlete in all conference sponsored men’s sports… Went on to earn First Team CoSIDA Academic All-America® honors… Was also named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District® 6 squad… Selected as the RMAC Summit Award Winner for the third time and was selected as the RMAC Academic Athlete of the Year to duplicate his indoor honor… Would also be named to the USTFCCA All-Academic Team... Earned a fourth career all-America honors, claiming second team plaudits thanks to a ninth place finish at the NCAA Championships… Had earned First Team All-RMAC honors with a third place finish at the RMAC Championships… Recorded an all-conditions all-time CMU best effort of 7.58 meters (24-10.5) at the conference meet… Went on to set the former official school-record of 7.49 meters (24-7) without a wind at the Maverick Top Gun Last Chance Meet, a mark since broken by teammate Dawson Heide at the 2023 national championships, moving him down to second in official program-history... Set his NCAA qualifying, yet wind-aided mark of 7.57 meters (24-10), a week later at the APU Last Chance… Earned a USTFCCCA All-Region honor thanks to that effort… Was ranked 13th nationally and third on the RMAC season-long performance list as well… Won the long jump at his first three and four overall meets… Named as the RMAC Field Athlete of the Week after his win at the Colorado Invitational… Ran the 100 meters in 11.13 seconds at the Maverick Invite #2… Contested the triple jump at the Maverick Invite #1, posting a mark of 14.50 meters (47-7) to rank third in CMU history… Was ranked ninth on the RMAC performance list with that effort, but did not enter the event at the RMAC Championships.

2021-22 Indoor (Redshirt Sophomore): Earned a multitude of athletic and academic honors after competing in seven meets, including the RMAC and NCAA Division II Championships… Competed mostly in the long jump, setting the school-record of 7.57 meters (24-10) during the campaign… Was named as the Elite 90 Winner for NCAA Division II Men’s Indoor Track & Field by virtue of having the highest GPA of any athlete at the championships… Became just the second CMU student-athlete (Kyle Leahy, Baseball) to have earned such a prestigious honor… Placed 11th at the national championships in the long jump, earning Second Team USTFCCCA All-America honors… Had been named as the RMAC Summit Award Winner for the second straight season… Earned First Team All-RMAC honors with a third place finish in the long jump… Was also named as the RMAC Academic Athlete of the Year and to the RMAC All-Academic First Team… Set his school-record en-route to victory and ensuing RMAC Field Athlete of the Week honors at the Mines Winter Classic… Ended up leading the RMAC and South Central Regional performers’ list… Was ranked sixth nationally with it… Named to the USTFCCCA All-Region honors and as the Regional Top performer… Won three times, also claiming victory at the Mel Tjeerdsma Classic and Mountaineer Open & Multi… Also ran in the 60 meters twice, recording a career-best time of 7.08 at the Mountaineer Open & Multi.

2021 Outdoor (Redshirt Freshman): Had an award-winning season for both his athletic and academic pursuits… Qualified for his second straight NCAA Division II National Championship in the high jump, earning a second career USTFCCCA All-America honor… Finished tenth to earn second team honors… Was also a USTFCCCA All-South Central Region honoree for the third time… Had earned a pair of All-RMAC certificates at the conference championships, claiming first team honors in the high jump for the third successive season with a second place finish… Claimed second team honors in the long jump after finishing fifth… Set a then school-record mark of 7.44 meters (24-5) to do so… Cleared 2.12 meters (6-11.5) in the high jump at the Mines Last Chance meet to earn his way into the national championships… Was tied for the lead on the RMAC-season long performers’ list and seventh nationally with that mark… Was ranked 18th nationally with his school-record setting long jump effort, which also put him sixth in the RMAC… Won both the high and long jump at the Maverick Open to open the season before repeating the feet at Mines… Also won the high jump at the Maverick Sun Classic as he won three times in six meets throughout the season… Academically, was named as the RMAC Summit Award Winner for having the highest GPA (a perfect 4.00) at the RMAC Championships… Went on to become just the second Maverick man to ever earn CoSIDA Academic All-America Honors… Was a second team selection… Had earned a spot on the national ballot after earning CoSIDA Academic All-District honors... Also named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team and to the RMAC All-Academic First Team as CMU’s only male representative on the latter.

2021 Indoor (Redshirt Sophomore): Competed in the high jump at five meets, including the RMAC and NCAA Division II National Championships... Was victorious in each of the first four before taking sixth at the national meet to earn First Team USTFCCCA All-America honors... Cleared the same height of 2.06 meters (6-9) to win the RMAC title and earn First Team All-RMAC plaudits... Had set a personal-best mark of 2.11 meters (6-11) at the CRC UCCS Open and ranks second in CMU history with that mark... Led the RMAC season-long performance list... Was a USTFCCA All-South Central Region selection... Earned RMAC Field Athlete of the Week honors for the effort... Also competed in the triple jump at the season-opening Western Slope Challenge posting a mark of 14.30 meters (46-11)... Was ranked tenth on the season-long performance list with that mark and would have been eligible to compete in that event at the RMAC Championships... Named to the RMAC All-Academic First Team.

2020 Outdoor: Season canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

2019-20 Indoor (Redshirt Freshman): Competed in seven meets, including the RMAC Championships… Contested the high jump at all seven meets and the triple jump at five of them… Also competed in the long jump at the Mines Winter Classic… Cleared a NCAA provisional qualifying season-best height of 2.07 meters (6-9.5) at The Power 5 meet… Was ranked second in the RMAC and tied for 27th nationally… Earned USTFCCCA All-Region honors thanks to that mark... Reached the NCAA qualifying standard of 2.04 meters in each of his first four meets… Won the high jump four times throughout the season… Placed sixth with a clearance of 1.94 meters (6-4.25) at the RMAC Championships to earn Second Team All-RMAC honors… Set the former CMU record in the triple jump after tallying a mark of 14.79 meters (48-6.25) in his collegiate debut at the Western Colorado Open… Now ranks third in CMU history with that mark... That NCAA provisional qualifying effort put him fifth on the RMAC season-long performance list and 26th nationally… Won two triple jump titles and met the NCAA qualifying standard of 14.50 meters twice… Named RMAC's Field Athlete of the Week on Jan 28 after winning both the high and triple jumps at The Power 5 meet... Finished seventh at the RMAC Championships with a mark of 14.39 meters (47-2.5)… Leapt 6.64 meters (21-9.5) in the long jump in his lone long jump effort... Earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors.

Before CMU: Attended MSU Denver during the 2018-19 academic year... Was a member of the Roadrunners' basketball team and was on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll for both semesters... Redshirt season.

Prep: Graduated from Roaring Fork High School in 2018... Competed in four events at the CHSAA 3A State Championships as a senior winning the triple jump with a career-best mark of 45-11.75... Also placed second in the long jump, third in the 110-meter hurdles and sixth in the high jump... Set other PR's of 22-1.5 (LJ), 6-4 (HJ) and 14.72 (110 Hurdles) throughout the season winning several events... Was named as the Western Slope League Track Athlete of the Year... Also earned the same honor in basketball while picking up second team all-state plaudits... Was the Post Independent's Male Athlete of the Year and CHSAA all-star... Also had four top-10 finishes at the state meet as a junior, placing second in the triple jump... Won three WSL league titles that year... Won the long and triple jump league titles in 2018 as well.

Personal: Completed his bachelor's degree in exercise science in the spring of 2022 before beginning a graduate program in athletic training in the 2022-23 academic year...  Has aspirations of becoming an athletic trainer or physical therapist... Enjoys playing basketball or doing anything outside... Son of Brad and Karen Thompson... Older brother is Tyler.
