2021 Outdoor (Redshirt Sophomore): Competed in three meets, including the RMAC Championships… Placed sixth in the 400 meters at the conference meet to earn Second Team All-RMAC honors… Had posted a career-best time of 49.26 seconds in the preliminary round before posting a time of 49.47 in the finals… His preliminary time ranks him third in program-history… Also helped the Mavs set a school-record time of 3:17.40 to take fifth place in the 4x400-meter relay at the conference meet… Posted an outdoor career-best time of 22.46 in his lone attempt at the 200 meters during the Maverick Multi & Open.
2021 Indoor (Junior): Ran the 60 meters and on the Mavs’ 4x400-meter relay team at the Western Slope Challenge, his lone meet of the abbreviated season… Helped the Mavs win the relay in 3:28.08… Finished the 60 meters in 7.34 seconds.
2020 Outdoor: Season canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
2019-20 Indoor (Sophomore): Competed in five meets, including on both relays at the RMAC Championships… Helped the Mavs set a NCAA provisional qualifying time of 10:24.77, fifth fastest in program history, in the distance medley relay… Also helped the Mavs post a mark of 3:24.92, fifth quickest program in the 4x400-meter relay… CMU finished sixth and seventh in those events, respectively… Also helped the Mavs finish the 4x400-meter relay in 3:22.02 at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational, the second fastest in Maverick history… Helped the Mavs to a winning time of 3:26.56 at the Power 5 Meet… Also competed in individual sprinting events at four regular season meets… Ran the 60, 200 and 400 meters… Had a time of 7.21 in his lone 60-meter effort to begin his season at the UCCS Invitational… Had a season-best of 22.94 in the 200 at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational… Also had a season-best 400 time of 50.92 at that meet.
2019 Outdoor (Freshman): Competed in two meets... Ran the 200 in both, turning in a time of 22.56 at the Mines Kit Mayer Invite... Posted a time of 50.01 in the 400 at the Fum McGraw Open... Also helped the Mavs set a former school-record time of 3:17.79 to win the 4x400m relay at the Mines meet.
2018-19 Indoor (Freshman): Competed in the sprinting events at six meets, including the RMAC Championships... Took fourth in th both the 400 and 4x400-meter relay at the conference meet... Earned Second Team All-RMAC honors in the 400 after running a season-best time of 49.95 in the prelims while following that up with a time of 49.99 in the finals to become the first Maverick to run below 50 seconds indoors in the same meet... Is one of only two men to ever eclipse 50 ranking second in Maverick history just behind Augustus Barnes (49.91)... Helped the Mavericks set a school-record time of 3:20.96 in the 4x400m relay... Had also ran the opening leg on the relay team at the Colorado Invitational, which had posted a then record of 3:22.14... Was a member of four of the eight fastest relay teams in school history throughout the season... Also ran a season-best time of 22.39 in the 200m prelims at the RMAC Championships before finishing eighth in 22.72... Ranks fourth in school-history for the 200 with that time... Had a season-best time of 7.19 in the 60 meters to open the season at the Western Colorado Open.
Prep: Won the 4A Metro League Championship in the 200 meters as a junior in 2017 while at Widefield High School… Was coached by CMU alum Fred Marjerrison... Placed eighth in the 400 at that year’s state championship with a PR time of 49.65… Earned all-area honors that year… Was a 3-time state finalist… Set a wind-aided 200 PR of 22.13 in 2018... Also had a 100-meter PR of 11.38... State qualifier in cross country as well with a 5K PR of 17:44.
Personal: Is majoring in business administration with a focus of marketing... Aspires to become a creative marketing director for a globalized company, preferably related with sports, video games or a clothing brand... Son of Raegan Lopez and David Grant... Has four siblings... Enjoys hanging out with friends and family, playing video games and going on runs.
