2023 Outdoor (Redshirt Junior): Competed in seven meets, including the RMAC Championships and three last chance meets… Earned Second Team All-RMAC honors with a fourth place finish in the shot put… Recorded a mark of 16.71 meters (54-10) to break his own outdoor school-record… Tasted victory in the shot put at two earlier meets, winning at the Kit Mayer Classic (15.96m/52-4.5) and Maverick Invite (16.23m/53-3) in the lead-up to the conference championships… Also qualified for the RMAC Championships in the discus and hammer throws… Finished 18
th in the discus throw with a mark of 41.02 meters (134-7) before going on to record a season-best of 49.81 meters (163-5) to win the Loper Twilight… Fouled on his hammer throw attempts at the RMAC Championships, but had a season-best throw of 48.57 meters (159-4) at the Kit Mayer Classic… Was ranked fourth on the RMAC performance list in both the shot put and discus… Was ranked 20
th in the hammer… Was 37
th on the national performance list in the shot put.
2022-23 Indoor (Redshirt Junior): Competed in a team-high eight meets, including the RMAC Championships… Earned Second Team All-RMAC honors in the shot put with a fourth place finish… Also placed ninth in the weight throw at the conference meet… Peaked at the right time, setting season-best marks in both at the RMAC Championships… His weight throw mark of 17.23 meters (56-6.5) was also a career-best that moved him up to the No. 2 spot in program history… Had a throw of 16.65 meters (54-7.5) in the shot put, a NCAA Championship provisional qualifying mark that ranked him fifth in the conference and tied for 37
th nationally… Was ranked 10
th on the RMAC performers list in the weight throw… Finished first or second in the shot put in all seven meets prior to the RMAC Championships… Won at the Western Colorado Open on Jan. 21.
2022 Outdoor (Redshirt Sophomore): Competed in the throwing events at six meets, including the RMAC Championships… Set two school-records during the season while earning a pair of Second Team All-RMAC honors, thanks to fifth place finishes in both the shot put (16.06m) and discus throw (48.04m) at the RMAC Championships… Scored eight total team points at the RMAC meet… Also finished 12
th in the hammer throw with a career-best mark of 49.33 meters (161-10) at the RMAC meet… Ranks seventh in CMU history with that effort… Broke his own Maverick record in the discus throw with a mark of 49.99 meters (164-0) to win the Maverick Invite #2… Had set the Mavs’ former outdoor shot put standard of 16.34 meters (53-7.5) at the first Maverick Invite… Was ranked fifth on the RMAC season-long performance list in the discus throw… Was ranked sixth in the shot put… Claimed three event wins while posting seven top-3 finishes throughout the season.
2021-22 Indoor (Redshirt Sophomore): Competed in seven meets, equal to the most on the team during a record-setting and award-winning season… Contested the shot put and weight throw at each… Broke the CMU indoor shot put record four times, eventually finishing the regular season with a throw of 17.00 meters (55-9.25) at the Western Colorado Alumni Open… Earned USTFCCCA All-Region honors with that mark… Was ranked fourth on the RMAC’s season-long performance list in the shot put with his NCAA Championship provisional qualifying throw, that ranked him 26
th nationally… Was also a Second Team All-RMAC performer after taking fifth at the RMAC meet with a fifth place finish and mark of 16.72 meters (54-10.25)… Also qualified for the RMAC meet in the weight throw, but fouled on all three of his attempts… Had set a season-best of 16.95 meters (55-7.5) at the season-opening Mel Tjeerdsma Classic… Ranks fourth in CMU history with that mark… Claimed three shot put and four total event wins throughout the season… Was a double-winner at the Mountaineer Open & Multi.
2021 Outdoor (Redshirt Freshman): Competed in a team-high seven meets, including the RMAC Championships… Set two former PR's at the conference meet, advancing to the finals in all three of his throwing events… Placed second in the shot put with a then school-record throw of 16.29 meters (53-5.5)… Earned his second First Team All-RMAC honor with that effort… Also took fifth with a mark of 46.22 meters (151-8) in the discus throw to earn Second Team All-RMAC accolades… Had a season-best discus throw of 47.74 meters (156-7) at the Maverick Multi & Open… Finished ninth at the RMAC Championships in the hammer throw with a season-best throw of 47.78 meters (156-9)… Was ranked third on the RMAC season-long performance list in the shot put and fifth in the discus throw... Had five total victories throughout the season.
2021 Indoor (Redshirt Sophomore): Competed at four meets, including the RMAC Championships during the abbreviated season… Earned First Team All-RMAC honors in the shot put after placing third at the conference meet as he broke his own school-record from earlier in the season… Threw 15.93 meters (52-3.25) at the conference meet after making his season-debut with a Maverick record setting heave of 15.68 meters (51-5.5) to win at the Western Slope Challenge… Was ranked sixth on the RMAC season-long performance list… Also threw the 35-pound weight at each of his four meets, turning in a season-best of 14.97 meters (49-1.5) at the CRC UCCS Open… Placed tenth at the RMAC Championships with a mark of 14.77 meters (48-5.5)
2020 Outdoor: Season canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
2019-20 Indoor (Redshirt Freshman): Competed in seven meets, contesting the shot put at each… Qualified for the RMAC Championships, but fouled on all three of his attempts there… Had a season-best mark of 15.34 meters (50-4) at the UCCS Invitational… Finished sixth on the RMAC’s season-long performers list… Had four top five finishes in the shot put throughout the year… Also threw the 35-pound weight at four meets… Had a season-best effort of 13.44 meters (44-1.25) at the Western Colorado Alumni Open.
2018-19 (Freshman): Redshirted during both the indoor and outdoor seasons.
Prep: Won the discus throw at the Front Range League Championships before finishing ninth at the 5A state meet as a senior in 2018... Set a PR of 155-10 earlier in the year... Was also a state qualifier as a junior in 2017... Had a shot put PR of 46-5 to take fifth at the 2018 Front Range League meet... Was a frist team all-state performer in 2018 as a senior after earning second team honors in 2017... Was also a first team all-conference pick in 2017... Coached by Conrad Crist.
Personal: Is majoring in business administration... Son of Tara and Matthew Riley... Is a member of the CMU Associated Student Government... Wants to get a master's degree of some sport in the world of business, make good money and eventually start my own business... Enjoys hanging out in hot weather, doing any sort of sport... Also plays a lot of videogames.
Why I Chose CMU: "I was welcomed with open arms by the coaching staff and actually had never been to the college before my orientation date, I fell in love with the campus, and enjoyed the sports lifestyle."
