2019-20 Indoor (Senior): Competed in the weight throw in four meets, including the RMAC Championships… Advanced to the finals and finished ninth with a throw of 15.43 meters (50-7.5)… Had a career-best throw of 15.71 meters (51-6.5) to begin the campaign at the Western Colorado Open… That mark ranks him seventh in CMU history and was good for tenth place on the RMAC’s season-long performers list… Named to the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll for the fifth consecutive season.
2019 Outdoor (Junior): Competed in four meets, contesting the discus, hammer and javelin throws... Qualified for the RMAC Championships in each... Placed eighth in the hammer, 13th in the discus and 15th in the javelin... Had turned in career-bests of 44.07 (144-7) and 47.56 meters (156-0) in the discus and hammer throw, respectively, at the Mines Kit Mayer Invite... Ranks seventh in program-history with both of those efforts... Had a season-best javelin throw of 45.08 meters (147-11) to open the campaign at the Fum McGraw Open... RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll performer.
2018-19 Indoor (Junior): Contested the weight throw at seven different meets, including the RMAC Championships...Finished seventh at that meet with a season-best mark of 15.61 meters (51-2.75)... RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll selection.
2018 Outdoor (Sophomore): Competed at two meets, including the RMAC Championships... Finished eighth in the hammer throw with a season-best mark of 46.83m (153-8)... Was 15th in the discus after qualifying for the championships with a season-best mark of 40.16m (131-9) at the Mines Nature's Bakery Invite... Also had a career-best javelin mark of 48.92m (160-6) at the Mines meet... Ranks ninth in program history for that effort... RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll selection.
2017-18 Indoor (Sophomore): Competed in three meets after making the transition to the throws... Competed in both the shot put and weight throw in all three... Had a career-best shot put effort of 12.14m (39-10) at the Weber State Winter Open to open the year... Turned in a career-best mark of 13.41m (44-0) in the weight throw at the Western Alumni Open... RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll.
2016 Outdoor (Freshman):Â Competed in six meets... Earned Second Team All-RMACÂ honors after placing fifth in the decathlon with a season-best 5,864 points at the RMAC Championships... Also ran a 4x400m relay leg for the Mavericks at that meet... Had legal season-bests of 11.42 in the 100, 50.62 in the 400, 5:13.60 in the 1,500, 18.24 in the 110 hurdles, 1.69m (5-6.5) in the high jump, 5.71m (18-9) in the long jump, 11.06m (36-3.5) in the shot put, 39.44m (129-5) in the discus and 41.60m (136-6) in the javelin.
2016-17 Indoor (Freshman):Â Competed in five meets... Earned Second Team All-RMAC honors with a sixth place finish in the heptathlon (4,411) at the RMAC Championships... Set four season-bests, including his heptathlon point total at that meet... Those were 9.36 seconds in the 60m hurdles, 1.75m (5-8.75) in the high jump, and 2:54.27 in the 1000m... Contested three total heptathlons throughout the season... Had other season-bests of 23.71 in the 200m, 4.30m (14-1.25) in the pole vault, 6.06m (19-10.75) in the long jump and 11.25m (36-11) in the shot put.
Prep: 2016 graduate of Tallulah Falls School Indians... Coached by Scott Neal... Finished fifth in the pole vault and ninth in the discus at the 2016 Georgia Olympics... Had placed ninth in both events at the GHSAÂ 1A PRivate and Public Sectionals.
Personal: Son of Todd and Stacie Besier... Majoring in fitness and health promotion... Has two siblings (Ellen and Anson)... Enjoys snowboarding, working out and playing guitar.
