Coach Johnson enters her seventh season as an assistant coach with the track and field teams.

She coached Whitney Rowe to All-American, All-RMAC and several school records in the 100, 200, long jump and relays.

Prior to coming to Colorado Mesa University, Johnson coached at Doherty High School in Colorado Springs. At Doherty she led the girls team to their first Metro Championship title in four years, and coached two state qualifiers in the 4x100 (7th) and 4x200 (12th) relays. She also helped the next generation of sprint superstar hopefuls with Joe Gentry Track Troupe, a USATF junior track club.

Johnson earned a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Technical Journalism and a double option in Coaching and Ethnic Studies from Colorado State University. While at CSU she also competed for the Rams. Johnson solidified her track star status her sophomore year, posting a school record time of 53.6 after averaging 58 seconds in the 400m dash as a freshman.  She also holds the indoor 400m record and helped the Rams break records in the 4x100, 4x200, Sprint Medley and the 4x400 (indoor) relays.
