2020 Outdoor: Season canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
2019-20 Indoor (Redshirt Junior): Contested the weight throw at seven meets, including the RMAC Championships… Earned Second Team All-RMAC honors for the second straight year with a sixth place throw of 15.98 meters (52-5.25)… Had three top two finishes throughout the season… Started it with a PR throw of 16.61 meters (54-6) to win the Western Colorado Open…. That marked ranks him fourth in program history and was good for sixth on the RMAC’s season-long performers’ list… Also finished second at the Power 5 and Western Colorado Alumni Open… Named to the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll.
2019 Outdoor (Redshirt Sophomore): Competed in four meets, solely in the hammer throw... Had a season-best mark of 44.40 meters (145-8) to finish 13th at the RMAC Championships... Honored with the Male Leadership Award at the inaugural CMU SAAC Rumble Awards.
2018-19 Indoor (Redshirt Sophomore): Competed in the weight throw at six meets, including the RMAC Championships... Earned Second Team All-RMAC honors with a fifth place finish, thanks to a throw of 16.03 meters (52-7.25)... Had set a season-best of 16.13 meters (52-11) a week prior at the Western Colorado Alumni Open... Earned a spot on the RMAC All-Academic First Team.
2018 Outdoor (Redshirt Freshman): Competed in five meets, including the RMAC Championships... Took 14th in the hammer throw at that meet... Had a season-best of 44.64m (146-5) in that event... Ranks seventh in program history... Had a season-best of 34.24m (112-4) in the discus... RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll pick.
2017-18 Indoor (Redshirt Freshman): Competed in four meets, contesting the weight throw at each... Recorded a season-best mark of 15.53m (50-11.5) to finish tenth at the RMACÂ Championships... Competed in the shot put at the season-opening Weber State Winter Open, recording a mark of 10.55 (34-7.5)... RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll recipient.
2016-17 (Freshman): Redshirted during both the indoor and outdoor seasons.
Prep: 2016 graduate of Grand Junction HS... Served as the Tigers' team captain in both track & field (1 yr.) and football (2 -yrs.)... Coached by Sean Henry... Was a 6-time academic all-state pick (4 football/2 track)... Earned five career letters in the two sports, including two in track... Graduated with a 3.95 overall GPA, earning four academic letters... First team all-conference pick in football... High school PRs were 114-5 (Discus) and 41-8 (Shot Put).Â
Personal: Son of Angel and Laura Bautista... Is majoring in business with aspirations of becoming an HR rep and coach football before returning to school to obtain a teaching degree to become a teacher and principal... Enjoys coaching, reading and spending time with family.
