2024-25 (As a Junior @ CMU): Swam in nine meets, including the RMAC and NCAA Division II National Championships… Earned a trio of Second Team CSCAA All-America honors at the national meet, placing 14
th in the 200 Back (1:45.71) and 15
th in both the 100 Back (48.20) and 400 IM (3:57.19)… Also competed in the 200 IM, finishing 37
th in 1:49.76… Set a personal-best of 1:45.19 in the 200 Back prelims to rank fourth in program history and fifth on the RMAC’s season-long performance list… Also turned in a personal-best time of 47.94 in the 100 Back prelims to rank fifth in CMU lore and second on the RMAC list… Set his NCAA qualifying and personal-best 400 IM time of 3:53.03 (altitude-adjusted) to take second at the TYR CMU Invitational… Ranks fifth in program history with that time, which also put him sixth on the RMAC list… Claimed a pair of RMAC Championship medals and all-conference honors… Won the silver medal and a First Team All-RMAC honor in the 200 Back (1:46.81)… Took the bronze and Second Team All-RMAC honors in the 100 Back with an altitude-adjusted time of 48.34, his career-best at that time… Won the RMAC Championship consolation final in the 400 IM and scored an 11
th place finish in the 200 IM… Also swam on three “B” heat winning relay teams as he scored 48 team points in his four individual events plus another 13 ½ when accounting for his share of the relay points as CMU won a seventh straight conference crown… Had a personal-best smashing time of 1:49.77 (altitude-adjusted) in the 200 IM at the TYR CMU Invitational… Also had his NCAA qualifying 200 Back time of 1:45.48 (converted) at that meet… Went on to earn First Team CSCAA Scholar All-America honors… Also named to the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll while helping the Mavs win the RMAC Brechler Award.
2023-24 (As a Sophomore @ CMU): Competed in ten meets, including the RMAC and NCAA Division II Championships in his first year as a Maverick… Competed in three events at the NCAA Championships and set three new personal-best times… Finished 18
th in the 400 IM with a season-best of 3:56.97... Also placed 19
th in the 200 Back (1:46.92) and 40
th in the 200 IM with a season-best of 1:50.66… Also turned in a 100 Fly season-best of 54.73 at the start of his 400 IM effort… Accounted for 30 team points in his individual events at the RMAC Championships, taking seventh in both the 200 Back and 400 IM… Turned in a season-best 100 Back time of 49.12 (converted) to lead off the Mavs’ “B” 400 Medley relay team… That time was a NCAA "B" Cut mark... Also set NCAA “B” cut marks in the 200 Back (1:45.43), 200 IM (1:50.78) and 400 IM (3:57.14) during TYR/CMU Invitational… Finished the year fifth on the RMAC performers list in the 400 IM, sixth in the 200 Back and seventh in the 100 Back.
2022-23 (As a Freshman @ Nova Southeastern): Was a 3-event finalist at the Sunshine State Conference Championships, helping the Sharks to a second place team finish… Nominated for the conference’s newcomer of the year award… Set personal-best times in all four of his individual events at the conference meet… Set NCAA Division II Championship “B” cut times of 1:46.74 in the 200 back, 1:51.04 in the 200 IM and 3:58.61 in the 400 IM during the conference meet… Ranks third in NSU history in the 200 back… Placed fifth in the 200 back, seventh in the 100 back, eighth in the 400 IM and 13
th in the 200 IM.
Prep: 2022 graduate of Allen High School in Allen, Texas… Coached by Brent Mitchell… Was the Eagles’ team captain… Was a state qualifier… Named to the Texas All-State Second Team… Had started his prep career at the Newburgh Free Academy in Newburgh, New York.
Personal: Is majoring in business… Son of Galina and Alex Samsonov… Has one sibling— Ekat… Enjoys hiking, hanging out with friends and playing cards.
