- Third Team All-RMAC (2011 1-meter & 3-meter)
Returns to CMU in Fall of 2018 after a 5-year collegiate hiatus… Originally competed for the Mavericks in 2010-11.
As a Junior (2012-13): Took 20
th on the 3-meter (210.70) and 21
st on the 1-meter (204.65) at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships while representing NCAA Division I Cal State-Bakersfield… Also finished 17
th on the 10-meter platform with 189.85 points.
As a Sophomore (2011-12): Finished seventh on the 1-meter (223.95) at the California Community College Athletic Championships to earn CCCAA All-America honors while attending Palomar College in San Marcos, California. Helped the Comets to a runner-up finish as a team… Finished second on both the 1-meter (238.20) and 3-meter (205.10) at the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Championships.
As a Freshman (2010-11): Took third on both the 1 and 3-meter boards at the 2011 RMAC Championships while representing the Mavericks… Earned Third Team All-RMAC honors for both performances… Scored 450.30 points on the 1-meter and 446.40 points on the 3-meter… Qualified for the national championships but did not advance past the pre-qualifying round.
Prep: A 2010 graduate of El Camino High School...Coach was Marine Young… Was a four-time All-League selection... Helped team to ninth place finish at CIF Championships during senior season… 3-time All-CIF performer…an AP scholar and a North County scholar athlete.Â
Personal:Â Â Son of David and Susan Acosta... History major... Plans to continue education in history and wants to become a professor at a community college or university Brother AJ ran for the University of Oregon and qualified for the Olympic Trials.
Why I Chose CMU: "I wanted to be able to finish what I had started my freshman year. Grand Junction is a beautiful town with all the national parks around. CMU allows me to be active both in and outside of school."
