2024-25 (Sophomore): Swam in all nine regular season meets plus the RMAC Championships as an exhibition athlete… Set NCAA Division II “B” cut and personal-best times of 20.28 and 44.80 (altitude adjusted) in the 50 and 100 Free, respectively, at the conference meet… Was ranked sixth on the RMAC's season-long performance lists with those efforts... Set a 200 Free personal best of 1:40.24 (altitude-adjusted) at the TYR CMU Invitational… Named to the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll while also helping the Mavs win the RMAC Brechler Award.
2023-24 (As a Freshman): Swam in eight meets, including the RMAC Championships… Posted multiple personal-best and altitude-adjusted times of 20.54 (50 Free), 1:40.30 (200 Free) and 50.51 (100 Fly) as an exhibition athlete at the conference meet… Had a personal-best time of 45.52 (adjusted) at the TYR/CMU Invitational… Ranked sixth on the RMAC’s season-long performance list in the 50 Free.
Prep: 2023 graduate of El Paso High School… Coached by Patrick Gailey… Was the team’s MVP as a senior in 2023… Was selected to the all-state and all-state academic teams as a junior and senior… Was an all-American and won Texas 5A state titles in both the 200 and 400 free relay as a senior… Won 5A regional titles in the 50 free as well as the 200 and 400 free relay in 2023… Also took second in the 100 free… Won the regional title in the 200 medley relay as a junior in 2022… Also placed second in the 50 free, 100 free and 200 free relay that year.
Club: Swam for the Southwest Aquatics Team, coached by Wright Stanton… Qualified for the USA Swimming Futures Championship (San Antonio) in the 50 free, 100 free and 100 fly… Was a short course and long course Austin Speedo Sectionals finalist.
Personal: Is majoring in biology… Plans to pursue a career as a researcher in environmental science with an emphasis on marine ecosystem preservation… Son of Christina and John Convertino… Enjoys listening to music, playing the bass, watching movies and building fish tanks.
