2024-25 (As a Junior): Competed in ten meets, including the RMAC and NCAA Championships during a break-out season… Qualified for his first NCAA Championship, where her earned a Second Team CSCAA All-America honor after tying for 16
th place with teammate Jacob Troescher in the 1000 Free… Set a personal-best time of 9:14.62 to do so… Ranks fifth in CMU history with that effort… Also qualified for nationals in the 400 IM (3:56.51, 18
th) and 500 Free (4:28.77, 22
nd)… Set his NCAA qualifying times at the TYR CMU Invitational, the best meet of his career to date… Turned in a personal-best mark of 4:24.13 (altitude-adjusted) to take second in the 500 Free while finishing fourth in the 400 IM with another personal-best of 3:53.60 (converted)… Ranks fourth in CMU history for the 500 Free and sixth in the 400 IM… Also set a 200 Fly personal best of 1:49.96 (converted) and his 1000 Free qualifying time of 9:19.33 at the TYR meet… Scored in all four of his events at the RMAC Championships, placing seventh in the 1000 Free, 12
th in the 500 Free, 13
th in the 200 Fly and 15
th in the 400 IM with NCAA Championship qualification all but assured…. Finished amongst the RMAC’s top 10 on the season-long performers lists in four different events ranking third in the 500 Free, fifth in the 1000 Free and seventh in both the 200 Fly and 400 IM.
2023-24 (As a Sophomore): Competed in nine meets, including the RMAC Championships… Scored in all four of his events at the conference meet, placing ninth in the 200 Back, tenth in the 400 IM, 12
th in the 500 Free and 13
th in the 100 Fly… Set a NCAA “B” cut and season-best of 3:58.82 (altitude-adjusted) in the 400 IM at that meet… Also had a season-best of 1:40.88 in the 200 Fly… Had a season-best extracted 100 Fly time of 53.57 as part of the 400 IM as well… Also fared well at the TYR/CMU Invitational, setting a NCAA provisional and personal-best of 4:27.04 (converted) in the 500 Free… Set other season-bests of 1:48.01 (200 Back), 1:50.17 (200 Fly) during that meet.
Summer 2023: Set several new LCM bests in at the Oregon THSC Summer Classic while representing Team Eugene Aquatics… Had YMCA standard surpassing times of 1:57.57 (200 Free), 2:094.5 (200 Back), 58.32 (100 Fly) and 2:11.40 (200 Fly).z
2022-23 (Freshman): Competed for the Mavs in nine meets… Turned in a season-best time of 9:32.08 (altitude-adjusted) in the 1000 free and a season-best of 1:50.16 in the 200 back as an exhibition swimmer during the RMAC Championships… Had set a NCAA Championship provisional qualifying and season-best times of 4:32.10 (500 free) and 3:59.77 (400 IM) during the TYR CMU Invitational… Also had other season-bests of 51.55 (100 Fly), 1:52.23 (200 Fly) during that meet… Was named as a Second Team CSCAA Scholar All-American.
Prep: 2022 graduate of Sheldon High School in Eugene, Oregon.
Club: Swam for TEAM Eugene Aquatics and Coach Julio Zarate… Won the 1650 free at the OSI Senior Region XII meet in both 2020 and 2022… Placed fourth in that discipline at the 2022 Spring Speedo Sectional… Was third in both the 500 free and 200 back at the OSI Senior Region XII meet in 2022.
Personal: Is majoring in psychology… Aspires to become a sports psychologist… Son of Megan and David Tatge… Has a younger sibling— Mason… Enjoys hiking, running and hanging out with friends.
Why I Chose CMU: “I chose CMU because I realized this is the place I wanted to be. CMU has a great swim and dive program and I believe I can achieve my academic and athletic goals here.”
