2022-23: Competed in the Intermountain Shootout before leaving the team… Swam in three individual events, posting times of 22.06 (50 free), 29.37 (50 breast) and 49.32 (100 free)… Also swam on two relays.
2021-22 (As a Redshirt Junior): Competed in five meets, including the RMAC Championships as an exhibition swimmer… Had a season-best of 21.34 in the 50 free at that meet… Had another altitude-adjusted season-bests of 47.49 in the 100 free at the A3 Performance Invitational... Named to the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll.
2020-21 (As a Redshirt Sophomore): Competed in four meets during the pandemic-abbreviated season… Posted season-best times of 21.83 (50 Free) and 48.37 (100 Free) against BYU… Had an altitude-adjusted time of 5:04.89 (500 Free) at Air Force.
2019-20 (As a Redshirt Freshman): Competed in ten meets, including the RMAC and NCAA Division II National Championships, after making a strong end of season surge in his collegiate swimming debut campaign… Was an exhibition swimmer at the conference meet… Turned in personal-best times of 20.90 (50 free) and 46.84 (100 free) at that meet… Also had a season-best mark of 50.89 in the 100 fly… Cemented a spot as a relay swimmer for the national meet with two more solid 50 free times of 20.98 and 21.07 at the Grand Junction Invite, a last chance meet held a week after the conference championships… Was able to get two swims at the national meet before it was canceled after 1 ½ days due to the COVID-19 outbreak… Anchored the Mavs to a 12
th place finish in the preliminaries of the 200 medley relay but did not swim the finals… Anchored the Mavs to 18
th place in the 200 free relay on the second day of the meet… Had other season-bests of 51.23 (100 fly) and 58.57 (100 breast) at the A3 Performance Invite.
Before CMU: Attended Southeastern Louisiana University from the Fall of 2016 through Fall of 2017.
Prep: Graduated from Ponchatoula HS in Hammond, Louisiana in 2016... Swam at the Louisiana Division 1 Championships for the Green Wave and coach Judity Kloepfer.
Club: Has been swimming for the Pelican Athletic Club... Was a 5-event finalist at the 2019 Louisiana State Short Course Championships in February after earning four top-6 finishes in 2018 and one other in 2017.
Personal: Is majoring in kinesiology... Would like to become a strength and conditioning coach for an NCAA institution or professional sports team, ideally in involved with swimming... Son of Ken and Samantha Usey... Has two older siblings (Colin and Madison).
Why I Chose CMU: "The team environment seemed extremely positive and conducive for success. The energy was infectious and it was apparent that they work hard as well as have fun. Also, the area is absolutely beautiful and incredibly enticing for an adventurous person like myself."
